Hot & Crusty opened its first store in 1980 at this exact location on Sixty-third Street and Second Avenue. Over the next couple of years, the company opened more stores, building complete bakeries into each one. In 1994, the company granted licenses for the use of the “Hot & Crusty” name. This proved very successful and in 1997, a new company called Hot & Crusty Franchise Corp. was created to franchise new stores. To this end, a central baking facility was acquired in which all bread doughs and pastries are made. All baking is done on a European deck oven, in front of the customers, thus creating interest in the baking activity and enticing diners with a delicious baking aroma. Try ordering for yourself.

Why didn't I read the previous reviews? 15-30 minutes estimate is a joke. It's been 80 minutes and I still don't have the food. I'll never order from them ever again.

H&C is good if you go to the store, but their delivery is terrible. We ordered a coffee, a cappuccino, and a toasted bagel with light cream cheese at 8:18. Estimated delivery was 15-30 minutes. Our order didn't arrive until 9:31, and that was after I called at 9:05 to check on the order. The man on the phone initially tried to tell me I was lying: "we don't have any outstanding orders. Everything has gone out." After insisting multiple times we hadn't received anything yet, he finally changed his story to "our delivery man is out with your order now." He did apologize towards the end of the call and said the delay was because they were busy. Understandable, which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. But the bagel wasn't toasted when it finally did arrive (a service for which they charge), and the coffee (though warm) spilled all over the bag. Sorry H&C, if you're going to offer delivery you should probably put a little more effort into it. I will not be ordering from here again, and will likely stop buying in-store because of this experience.

The breakfast wrap is great. The delivery took about 5 minutes more than the expected time. but that was ok. the food was still hot & delicious

The food is fine when they have it but most of the times we have tried to order from them, they call us and say they don't have something we ordered. We've stopped ordering from them as a result.

They took twice as long to deliver as the estimated time suggested. When I called they were not helpful at all.

Their N.Y. Pastrami Reuben is awesome.

They change the price on the order often, sometimes overcharging. I've been on the delivery boy's phone several times now after being a regular for over a year. Absolutely ridiculous customer service, lady told me her "old" price was wrong and charged me double to make up for it. I used to order here several times a week, but enough is enough. I sent the order back and refuse service.

took over an hour for food to be delivered...

Hot and Crusty is great, but why don't they offer bagels as a stand alone option for their menu. They are primarily a bagel shop, but you can't order a simple bagel and cream cheese on Seamless...?

Pizza is five starts, customer services is a one...hence the three star rating. Delivery was missing a few items and when we called to complain the employee response was "well we gave you a free coke." We were like - we didn't ask for it! After demanding a correction they fixed it.

EVERY SINGLE TIME I order from Hot & Crusty on SeamlessWeb, they mess up my order. Half the time, they don't have available the items listed on their website. When I call to fix the order they inevitably mess up, they argue with me. Horrible customer service. You are better off going to pick it up yourself or ordering from a different bakery that actually has the listed items in stock, or will at least rectify the situation without an argument.

Food is pretty good for what it is, but delivery is pretty hit or miss. I have had deliveries that that 20 minutes and others as long as two hours. Generally speaking it's twice as long as what the ETA here is, and they will lie to you about where the delivery guy is when you call.

Horrible delivery. I literally ordered the easiest, least complicated food, and it came out a nightmare...Salad with turkey, tomatoes and cauliflower w/ a diet snapple. After the hour long delivery (I live right across the st), I got brown lettuce with gross turkey and moldy cauliflower- yum...oh and they forgot my snapple-seriously!

Food is good but overpriced. Chicken salad(chicken, mayo) on a plain bagel, not toasted, for $7.29????? Looking at the menu, seems they just decided to charge about $7.50 for everything without regards to the individual dish. I had ordered by phone at the time without seeing a menu. That was another horror story, the person on the other end either had a bad phone connection or didn't understand english very well. I had to spend 10 minutes trying to explain the difference between a chicken parm. and a chicken salad. eh, with the pricing and service...there's plenty of other places to order from that are much better.

Very dependable delivery. Breakfast food is great, pastries as well. Sandwiches are just OK, but you can not beat the price.

The food is good here, and we have been long time orderers. However, the delivery is getting consistently bad. Today is the most egregious - ordered just before 730a for 750a to 805a arrival. 850a now and the employee on the phone has no explanation, saying that "it left." That itself was 30 minutes ago. Until the delivery can get back on track, we're backing off from these guys.

I got the Tuna Melt panini and a diet coke. The sandwich was great. Not too gloppy and served on yummy pita bread. My only compliant is that they brought me diet coke with Lime, which I really don't like, when I ordered plain diet coke. As mistakes go, it's pretty minor. The food came very quickly (I should hope, since I'm 2 blocks away) and was a little cool, but not cold. The problem was that they did not call or confirm before they came. I guess they were moving along so quickly they didn't have time. I just got my confirmation now, about an hour after my food got here.
